Common questions
What colors are best for professional headshots?
Solid colors photograph best because they keep the focus on your face. Navy is universally flattering and reads trustworthy, charcoal is clean and modern, and burgundy or deep teal add personality without being distracting. Darker colors tend to convey authority. Avoid bright white, which can glare, and neon colors, which reflect onto your skin.
What should you avoid wearing for a headshot?
Avoid busy patterns and tight stripes, which can shimmer on camera. Skip logos and text, which distract and date the photo. Bright white can blow out, neon casts color onto your skin, and anything wrinkled or brand-new that you have never worn will show as discomfort in the photos.
How many outfits should I bring to a headshot session?
Bring two or three options on hangers rather than folded in a bag. What looks great in person does not always translate the same way on camera, so having options means we are never stuck. During your session I will help you choose which looks best.
