What to wear, what to avoid, and how to show up camera-ready for your session.

02 · Colors
Solid, medium-toned colors photograph beautifully and keep the focus where it belongs. On your face.
Pro Tip from Jose
"Navy is my personal favorite for headshots. It photographs clean, works on any background, and looks authoritative without being harsh. When in doubt, wear navy."
03 · What to Avoid
A few wardrobe choices can quietly sabotage an otherwise great photo. Here's what to skip.
Pro Tip from Jose
"If you're unsure about an outfit, bring it anyway. We'll decide together before we start shooting. I'd rather have too many options than too few."
04 · Outfits
Multiple outfits give you options, and options give you the best possible final images for every platform and purpose.
Outfit 01
Your Power Look
Your most polished, professional outfit. Blazer, suit jacket, or structured top. Clean, pressed, and well-fitted.
→ Perfect for LinkedIn & company website
Outfit 02
Your Approachable Look
Slightly more relaxed but still professional. A great blouse, open collar, or smart casual top that feels like you.
→ Perfect for email signature & bio pages
Outfit 03
Your Industry Look
Optional but powerful. Realtor jacket, creative look, or something that reflects your personal brand and industry.
→ Perfect for personal branding & social
Pro Tip from Jose
"Most clients are surprised how different they look in two outfits. It's worth the extra 5 minutes to switch. You end up with photos that work in more places."
05 · Fit & Grooming
Small grooming decisions have a big impact on camera. Here's how to show up looking your best.
Fit & Tailoring
Well-fitted clothing looks intentional and polished on camera. Avoid anything too baggy or too tight. If you own a blazer that fits well, wear it. It instantly elevates any headshot.
Hair
Get a haircut or trim 5 to 7 days before your session, not the day before. Fresh cuts can look too sharp on camera. Style your hair the way you wear it professionally, not a special occasion version.
Makeup (for women)
Natural, matte finish works best under studio lighting. Avoid heavy shimmer or gloss. Bring your makeup bag for touch-ups. I have good mirrors in the studio.
Grooming (for men)
Shave or groom your beard the morning of your session. Clean, trimmed nails. If you wear glasses, bring them. I can shoot with and without.
Accessories
Simple and minimal. Small earrings, a classic watch, or a simple necklace are fine. Avoid anything that jingles, dangles, or catches the light.
Day-Of Prep
Get a good night's sleep, stay hydrated, and eat before your session. Avoid alcohol the night before. You'll look and feel more relaxed, and it shows on camera.
06 · Your Session
Here's exactly how your session flows from the moment you arrive to when you leave with your previews in hand.
You'll have a few minutes to hang your outfits, do any last-minute touch-ups, and get comfortable. The studio is relaxed. There's no rush.
I coach you through every pose and expression. You don't need any experience. That's my job. We'll work through multiple looks, backgrounds, and expressions.
About halfway through we'll switch to your second outfit. This gives you variety and ensures you have photos for every platform.
Before you leave, you'll see a curated set of digital previews on screen. You'll know right away which ones you love.
Professionally retouched images delivered within 24 to 48 hours via an online gallery. Full resolution, ready to upload anywhere.
